iN NYC I had students from Korea, China,
Brazil, Russia, and others
I do not just teach reading, what I do is give them
all they need to live, such as going out to restaurants,
filling out forms, street signs, reading a map, anything
that is positive for them to live comfortably.
Also, just interaction and speaking on the phone or
reading the newspaper together.
I think a person really knows a language when they
can tell a joke in the second language.
