I did a search of my archives, and found a number of pictures that haven't been posted on my Flickr account. On account of the nature of the photograph, ie. NUDE! And Me 2!!

The question that presents itself is how to post the photos and NOT have all those prying eyes, yet only those prying eyes that Eye Want to pry. Well, it isn't brain surgery, or anything like that. The real question is: WHY?

My GF during the nienties asked me the question: WHY? Why did I want to continue seeking a career in show business? After six shows in the local community theatre, I had to ask myself the same question: WHY?

So, when it comes down to posting NUDE pictures of women I have become familiar with enough for them to take off thier clothes long enough for me to take photographs of thier lovely bodies; the question now becomes: Why would eye want to post them on the internet 4 all the lurkers to oggle at? HuH? I really want 2 know. Any readers want to reply?

Drove down the spine of the Appalachean Mountains to western North Carolina. Beet feet out of the Mts after a short visit with an ole commrad in arms, then down into the South. Stayed with a Snow Dog Boardie Boy livin' in the Suburbs of Atlanta. He's a new Daddy of a baby girl. Mom and daughter are doin' just fine. Then up to VaBeach, jusst in the nick of time. Big storm for Thanksgiving. Safe harbor! On to NJ shore and the Avera Girls! Oh, oh those Jersey Girls! I knew him when he was a Jersey Girl!LOL!!

Net Neutrality is only an illusion. No matter what the
consumer does on the internet, that user is going to
pay. Why? Because the user is ignorant on just how the
internet, and it's interface, the computer, operate
online. It is just all to cumbersum. Turn it on!
That's it. IF it doesn't work, throw it OUT! So, if it
is a question of a few extra dollars to get
content--easy, easier, easiest!
This all started with the file swaping revolution
NAPSTER! Yep, that young whiper-snaper changed how we
use data. You want music, you get music. AND did he
get the hammer! But, it changed an industry, IIRA, and
has the Movie Industry, HOLLYWOOD, nervous. I want
movi8e NOW. And I want it directly from U. The User.
Not hollywood. And if the average geek can make a HIT
movie, put it up on the internet and get millions of
hits, well, then, who's your DADDY? MOMMY?
HOAX? Can we Talk?
Until the internet, and computer can reach speeds of
the quality of the telephone, and the quality of
network television, which, by the way, is the same,
then I don't buy it. As long as the industry is kept
from that quality, and speed, then we are doomed to a
multi tier internet. Pay more for the speed. And the
business with the most money will get the speed. The
little guy will still have to prove hit capture and be
at the mercy of Corp. Network. It is now the
Military-Industrial-Entertainment Complex. You pay
your way to the top. The fly in the oinment is the
availability of the internet by the average user. If
you can perpetrate the HOAX that U R something--Or,
you can strike a chord in the web and capture millions
of hits-then Corp Network doesn't have a hand on the
dollars. Media handlers are on the outside, and THEY
don't like it!!!
So, "Net Neutrality" is just another internet "hoax",
because it involves the Gov. sleeping with Big
Business. And as we have alread seen, it is now the
Military-Industrial-Entertainment Complex. Cough up
the dollars, and work on your HOAX. It is still and
open playing field. GO 4 IT $$

At five thirty this morning I was at the computer console with a blinking
blue real player in the task bar. I was going to turn it off. Instead, I
decided to GO to it. Big Mistake?
Well, it said I was no longer supported, and that I had better upgrade my
player. UPGRADE! No less. V.10! No if's, and's ,or but's about it. OK. I
decided to do it.
I get to the accept page. Then, after clicking I am taken to a registration
page. This, after it has uninstalled my old player. OK.
Well, fight with the devil I say. I choose my prefrences, which is NOT to
have the Google search bar on my browser. HELL you say!! You will now spend
the rest of your days in Purgatory for NOT installing the Google search bar
on your browser while downloading the NEw and ImProVed version of ReaL
PlAyeR for FREE! HA! What a pissing contest for dominence in the Market!
I was into MSN Live Beta last night, and was reading, or should I say
viewing, the latest MSDN TV concerning Gagets, and Vista. BOOM! BANG! POW!
Just a pissing contest for dominance in the Market Place:>) I really could
care less about playing My_Music over the internet. Remember, if it is too

Presently, movers and shakers who jumped into the
blog-o-sphere to carve out a quick niche before thier
competition, are wishing they could take back some of
the things they wrote in order to drive traffic their
way. Of course, this is nothing more than armchair
quarterbacking at best. Everybody wishes they had
20-20 hinde sight. The problem, as I see it, is the
meld between commercial vs. personal. The taxomony vs.
folksomony.
When the blogs started hitting the mainstream
conciousness, commercial webheads, designers, and the
like, couldn't, for the life of themselves, figure out
what in the world anybody would want a blog for! Well,
it took a number of signts like blogger.com,
flickr.com, livejournal.com, to change hands for
millions of dollars before mainstream commerce could
see value in the product. And now, the early
ego-driven adopters, who dropped everything to carve
out large territories, might have said things they
have since regretted the rash pen. All the more
discouraging, because blogging is just that. It isn't
commercial, and wasn't intended to be. It was
expostulation in the moment. Throw it out there and
see what happens. Many poured out their souls in
minute detail, and chucked the consequences. Most, if
not all of these writers spilled their guts, and the
pen went dry. These were replaced by many more;
communities of niche markets sprung up, and the term
blog-o-sphere became a self fulfilling prophesy.
So, when I hear about some web guru who has hundred of
thousands of readers, and who gives speeches at all
the noted web conferences for large commanding sums of
money, I have no sympathy if all of a sudden they wish
they could take back something they wrote on a blog
eons(read months)ago.
If anyone reading this has a passion for writing, then
get out there and blog. It is the blast it was meant
to be.

One Armed Bandit and the Poetry Contest

Upon smoking cesation, I quickly became irritated
while standing in line at a quick check waiting for
the employee to seek out some off name-brand cigrette
pack for the patron I was standing behind. I only had
to pay for my gas fill-up; exact change if you please.
This irritation escalated even more rapidly when
standing behind some Power Ball gambler--and then
thoes scratch tickets--two of those, one of those,
four of those--grrrrrr....
I have no patience for people who gamble. Even when
they win they loose, because they will take their
meager winnings and throw it away on another scratch
ticket, or Power Ball, only to loose, yet again.
Better odds at Vagas, Reno, or Atlantic City, betting
on the slots.
Recently, the leader for my writing workshop
suggested that I enter my poetry in a contest.
Ironicly, on a blog through a more recent addition on
my contact list at Yahoo 360, just such a poetry
contest was promoted from a hot link. In each case,
the contest reading fee was over ten dollars, under
tewnty dollars, for no more than three poems, not more
than five pages in length. The prize money for each
contest was one thousand dollars. And of course, there
is the prestige of being published in the next poetry
publication, and the winners' list online.
My dilema, then, is do I send in my one poem, that
I think worthy of a blue ribbon, and slap down my
fifteen dollar bet that it is? OR, do I go to the
local quick check looking to hit the big jackpot, and
buy fifteen dollars of scratch tickets?
Either way, in my estimation, both are a form of
gambling with my hard earned dollar. Yes, the poetry
contest uses the money to finance the winner payout,
as well as other logistical expenses. Where as,
scratch tickets and Power Ball are a little less high
brow.
Still, I feel I would do better, and be more
entertained, spending my hard earned fifteen dollars
in quarters if I stood at a One Armed Bandit in a
gambling hall inside one of the more local Indian
Reservation with a bunch of cowboys,than I would in
some poetry contest where even the judges are
strangers. Besides, I might just hit three sevens! Or,
keep my money, and stand in a line with my rhyme, and
pay the high price of gas til I pass.

Ironically, the founder and Editor in Chief of Boink
Magazine is a woman.
She has a Masters of Journalism from Boston U., and
has broadened out into the world of Venture Capitalism
with her first self-publication: Boink!
And what better venue and guaranteed way to recoup on
your investment, as a complete unknown, than Porn!
That's right, Porn!
What's more, to make matters a little more radical,
the talent, for these glossy, porn photographs, are
real college students. They are virtually standing in
line for the opportunity of appearing between the
covers (cough, cough) for a mere stipend of one
hundred dollars. How much are your *ss worth?
Now, Boston University is no small pond in the
academic world. Bright students from all over the
world flock to this major metropolitan hub for all the
latest and greatest.
If you happen to come from a small rural community,
and feel like a small fish in a huge pond, or worse, a
wallflower, I'm sure that appearing in a porn magazine
will certainly boost your popularity rating. You will
get noticed!
In the end, I suppose, these kids will grow up to be
responsible adults, and will look back fondly on their
misspent youth, memories of school, and laugh about
how silly they were. After all, this is the "Age of
Kali-Yuga", and what better way, other than multiple
piercing, to wear this generations' badge of honor,
then becoming a Porn Star!

MayDay My *SS: SOS More Like It

While unregistered aliens around the country took a
day to celebrate "workers'" paradise, the first of May
marked the begining of radiation treatment for my
face. This treatment is to last three weeks. I plan on
posting a before, during, and after picture of my face
during the treatment, on flickr. It should show up in
my flickr stream on 360. That way, all of my wonderful
subscribers can watch the metamorpisis occur as it
happens. BTW, the name of the ointment for the
treatment is...Efudex-40(fluorouracil). The Doctor
says it is good to go for ten years after treatment.
My Primary says it hurts about as much a face peel. I
am sure that my face is going to look like a rotting
Orange Peel for the next month. But, ten years? I'll
do it. Damn cancers! Here come the sun...what'd I
say..it's alright. Keep an eye out for the next installment.

Zero Defects

Do you think a brown-out can harm the workings of my computer?
Snow covered the Mountaintops here in the East. It was heavy and wet. Tree branches bowed under the white weight. The plow truck came through late, around 10pm., and I had to go out to shovel before it froze into one large ice mass behind my automobile.
It was late. It was quiet! Very Quiet! Every so often you could hear the groan and CRACK of another branch giving up the ghost and surrendering to Mother Nature. Two very large branches found their way onto my roof!
In the still of the morning, I could hear an unusual sound coming from my refrigerator. I opened the door, and the light was dim. The temperature controls did nothing to correct the problem. I figured I had waited to long before sweeping under, and behind the mechanical unit. I mean, it too, can only last so long before it gives up the ghost!
Cold in the house. I went to the wood stove and clicked the fan to HIGH! Little more than when it is on LOW. Why? Should I worry?
I went outside, with a wooden pole in hand, and started knocking snow off the power line that comes into the house. Would this help??
I turned on the light over the stove. It was the color of Brown...
That's when I decided to visit the neighbors. I do not take visiting the neighbors lightly. I am a Yankee. A Damn Yankee at that! For a Damn Yankee to visit a neighbor here in YankeeDom means something is drastically wrong. I knocked on their door.
Believe it or not, this is the very first time in my history to experience a BROWN-OUT. Not in the 60's, 70's, 80's, or 90's have I ever experienced a brown-out. Black-outs I can understand: the power goes OUT! KaPUT! Gone. Time to get out the batteries and flashlights, oil lamps and blankets. But, a Brown-Out??
I unplugged my computer just in case.

Got Fall

Grooming my profile over at Yahoo for this winter. Before the snow flies. How any of this really works is anybodies guess and I'm nobodies fool.
I finished waterproofing the foundation inbetween rain drops. There has been no sun here for about ten day srtaight. The temps are moderate for this time of year. When the bottom drops out the ground will turn white and I will strap boards to my feet and start sliding down hill. WOOHOO!!
I am all set for snowboarding, tele, but need to get bindings for alpine, and then I will have it all covered. Guided tours a la carte! CU at the Summit!
P.S. My contact buddie over at Flickr Halle already beat me 2 it. Am I jelous! Send him my best!

You Can Lead a Horse to Water...

Don't tell me that this stuff is difficult. (Ever notice that the diff has the word 'cult' in it?) Cause ifn' this were that difficult, then everybody wouldn't be doing it! And I got everything needed to work with, including the newest, best, bestest..and still! IRON MAN: I can press 250 shirts before breakfast, and still nobody likes me!
It is getting a bit easier lately. I don't know if it is because I understand more, or if it is just that I spend less time thinking about it, and more time doin' it!
And I spend a lot of time not doing it, too. I get into looking at everybody elses blogs, and whatnot, and then I am so weary that I don't have the time to do mine. You gotta know, the ole eye balls ain't what they used to be. Rhumey and watery after hours sitting and reading blogs all day long.
And the amout of stuff on these blogs..the links, the # of comments..and I am sure that when in html, I should use the ampersand and the code for the numeral sign, but I don't have it memorized, and if I get up from this seat and look for the reference book, I know I will never get anything written. Seems all that I do is some sort of research on this dang thing, and never get anything done!
Like, where is the link to my furl account? Huh?
Well, if this is properly done, this post should show up in my Yahoo360 blog. Then, just a click away, is something called a Blast ballon; where there is a link to my account on bloglines; where there is a list of all of the RSS feeds I have subscribed to. Then, down at the bottom of that blogroll is a feed link to my furl account...U see? I subscribed to my own feed!
And they say you can lead a horse to water. Dang, I'm havin' trouble just findin' the horse, let alone some body of water to lead it to...

Stormy Weather

And then my tooth went south. OUCH! Hurts like the dickens, while Charles went to Jersey to visit his family on the shore. Lucky him. He is getting the most out of the early to mid summer shore breezes.
We, here in the NNE, have been under a dark cloud and many inches of rain. So much rain, in fact, that there are flash flood warnings posted daily.
And then my back went out. Same side as my tooth. Everything is happening on the same side. There was something else wrong on that side but I can't, for the life of me, figure out what it was. Must not have been all that bad. Still, all on the same side. I am trying to figure out why I am manifesting all of this discomfort on the same side of my body.
And the Rain falls down.
Set up a new account with g-mail. I always wondered what this g-mail was all about. Then, reading my Yahoo mail, I got an invitation to join. Didn't know you needed an invitation to join. There it was. An invitation to join g-mail. Who sent the invitation remains a mystery. It is good, when in discomfort, to find a little mystery in ones' life. Takes the edge off.
Why would someone send me an invitation to join g-mail in Beta anyway. I tried to think back over the month or two prior to the post. It is not anyone associated with anyone in my flickr account . By the way, what a fun project that has been.
And, the name is not recognizable in my Tickle account. My Space on MSN hasn't been up long enough to recognize anybody, and that is about it. A MYSTERY!

There was a moderated forum with a group I joined not long ago at Marlboro College. The Graduate Center has been kind enough to let the Computer Users Groups in the area use the facilities.

If I really pushed my ego around a bit more maybe eye 2 could become a professional blogger...
My appointment at the V.A. Hospital went off without a hitch. The Nurse was a real flirt. Said I'd live 2b 100. Hey, so did my primary care physician.

So far I have been through three complete introductorycourses of FLASH. Three. And they were all the same.The same. Except for the last one. In the last one,held by invitation at the Grad Center, Marlboro College, our leader, Annisa Hartman, pushed the class into buildinga button. Now, atleast, the cartoon can be made to 'start'and 'stop'. The default in Flash is to 'loop'. Three vanilla intro courses into Flash. My own research ledme to a fourm page where different users were commenting onjust what Flash was good for. The collective opinion was more ofwhat is wasn't good for. And cartoons is definitely not whatit is good for.Now, this is irony. What I learned about what Flash is good foris from a search on an Adult search engine. Here I found a pagefor a conference held in ARIZONA. Tempe, Arizona. One of thoseconferences that my finances would never permit me to attend.But, here I was. Year(s)after the fact. But still. Between Fear of Failure and Snare of Success

Life is about Change. Life is never static, and is always in a state
of modification of one sort or another. How one deals with change
is the by-product of a personality's Nature verses Nurture. Then it
is a simple matter of how well one uses what one was born with,
and blending that with the 'experience' of what one has been brought
up to have, thus becoming the personality one is.
Of course, the above paragraph is, by far, an oversimplification of the
matter at hand. But, the truth of the matter is, striking a balance
between Fear of Failure, and the Snare of Success is far better
than purely one, or the other.
When approaching change in circumstance that Life presents from the
standpoint of Fear of Failure, a personality might be overcome by
an inability to ACT simply because there is a fear of failure.
At the other end of the spectrum, there is the ability to ACT,
but it is always buffered in relation to a personalities position
at the moment. It cannot act spontaneously, and is locked into modes
of conduct permitted only by the layer of status that success obtained,
and therefore, a personality blocks out change.
consider the following:
An opportunity presents itself where the nature of the opportunity
is NEW. There is nothing to compare it to, and is untried and untested.
This opportunity suggests a payoff of One Million Dollars. Very appealing
to any personality.
Now, the personality afflicted by fear of failure won't act for fear of
failing. The personality afflicted by the snare of success won't act simply
because of the comparison with what is already obtained. The tried and true
verses a complete unknown. A bird in hand verses two in the bush, so to speak.
Here, we can begin to get a picture of the true entrepreneur. This personality
has the ability to accept change. To flow with the currents that Life has
presented at any given moment. To process those currents as information, and
then act spontaneously upon them. This might bring to mind the Far Eastern
philosophy: Bend like the willow. Or some such mallarky.
Read the book, saw the movie, got the album, have the hat.

After the chat over at TI, Eye have to ask the question... is this here really a venue for an online portfolio? Isn't this really an online portfolio of my daily ramblings? And then Eye remembered...
Eye taught Alpine skiing to children ages 6-12yrs. and Eye did this 4 eleven yrs. The best part of this job was having an office at the apex of the world; 4000ft. above sea level. Just looking out over the spine of Mountains most every day. Or, in a blinding snow storm while trying to calm the fear from the brain of a seven year old. Then, the smiles after a successful day on the mountain. There weren't many days that went by that Eye didn't learn something new from those children. Things Eye still use to this day. Things that help me survive.
Eye guess what Eye am trying 2 say is that surfing a Art or Music sight, no matter how well meaning, to expose children 2 the finer aspects of Art or Music, just isn't the same as visiting a Museum, or attending a live symphonic performance. The point is redundant and moot. Eye do not have to orchastrate a class room filled with spoiled children demanding to B entertained. And this, Day in and Day out of every school year... Eye Do Know How These children R because Eye had 2 lead them out into the wilderness, on a snow covered mountain, in every type of weather... Just a reflection of the HomeLife, believe U Me... Eye do sympathsize with the teacher.
Eye was just fortunate enough 2 have the mountain as my classroom, and Mother Nature as my Teacher.

Up at the crack of dawn. Couldn't keep the kundilini down for Love nor money. And Eye am still a Day Late and a Dollar Short. Went 2 TI and logged into my office? Well, it is now...anyway. Got the feel 4 it. Stretched my legs a bit U might say. Little tougher than the home scratchings, but still, Eye was able 2 get the essence of it down!
Seems Eye have made myself a stable hand workin' hesself Up! And 4 the life of me can't think of what the name is 4 the guy who shoes horses. Come to my tac Shop anyhow. Maybe, with help, it can be sussed out.
Way past Bewolf... and the Green Knight, but tinged with hints of The Courtly Love Tradition... past and present blend into one.
What it really comes down 2 is the fact that everything boils down 2 a field promotion. That is right. Field promotion. In the old days, guy with the biggest dagger got 2 the head of the pack. Courage, or plain bull headed. Ghengis Khan. Kazzar!
When Eye was in the military, the only way 2B a General was to wear the RING. Today, college credentials put one at the head of industry. Tomorrow, it will be a digital portfolio.
What happens 2 the little guy? Scraping. Clawing. Pushing. Shoving. Floatsam rising 2 the top? Where is the Field Promotion in the world of virtual reality? Pirates!! More work 4 the Cryptologists' Eye guess.

Doing my HomeWork

Where as, in the years 1988-99, I babbled on about the wonders of IT, and watched in horror as even my close friends' eyes glazed over; in a mere 3 weeks I have convinced two of my phone friends to start their own blogs.
These modern day wonders of IT are not going away. I remember when channels were saved in a .cdf file in c. Now look where it has progressed to:
SGML, VRML, DTD, HTML, XML, OPML, PHP, DOM, Ruby, Monty Python?
These apps aren't just another fancy 'must have' ornament that one bandies about to impress ones' friends. Oh, no.
1984 was the personal ads hay-day and the very obscure BBS. 1989 saw 9600bps and the birth of on-line dating. Hook up in TTL. Dismal.
The Key here is IT. The way in which human beings communicate. They want to communicate. Human beings want better ways to communicate. Globally!
The challenge for IT, in the days ahead, can be summed up in one simple word: RELEVANCE.
As far as my homework is concerned--- 14" of snow in the dooryard 2 shovel before breakfast... and still nobody likes me!

Just a short note. Late last night I downloaded the small Jar file for Elluminate!
Once it configured I watched the Will Richardson Archive. So, after all these years clicking on XML buttons, and wondering "what's my aggrigator?", and seeing (and reading) the outline tree, and wondering just what XML does, I finally get it!
What was really cool was the folders Will had in his feed window. I wanted to have folders too! So, now I have a 'New'folder. But, Hey, why do I still have the original folder '66 feeds' just above my NewFolder???
I can live with it.
When I add new feeds, I will also add new folders.

Week Four

This is the beginning of week four. Only, 4 ME it is the beginning of week three. And it is not because of playing hookie, either. No, it is because of the platform that is the industry standard... Ie. XP. Oh well, U will have this.
So eye went to the syllibus and started to work my way through. Started a bloglines. Very slick. Loaded the ompl file. Very, Very slick:>} Well, did just about every thing that was asked.. except adding my comments on wiki... which reminds me, eye am NOT in a task group. My fault.

Next, eye went to the opml page to read the stats about the language. Very easyU tink?

Well, my guess is U need Radio User Land Frontier 2 be able 2 write the file .opml.opml.opm;

Anyway, eye got a book on C# and XML. Covers SOAP, AJAX, SAX, XML, XPATH, XPOINTER, TREX, DOM, XSLT, XCERCES, XALAN, MSXML, and other industry standards.
Yeah, eye can lift 355 lbs. BEFORE breakfast, AND still nobody likes me.

Then eye went to furl...., and eye went into information overload! Standby... eye think the last thing eye remember reading was RFC 3041 or some standard on ipv6. Oh, Boy, what fun.

Still, eye am looking forward to finishing up on furl and moving on to the group task side..

Things are really slow with the wiki posting. This melt dwn really set me back. Not that a set back wasn't already my karma. Oh, well, this post is supposed to have a hot link to a news feed about Bill Gates and his visit to Brazil. Weak knees over IT in Brazil wanting to turn over open source. Let the chips fall where they may. And maybe when the dust settles dwn on my desk top there will be time to look up news feeds to add hot links. Maybe!

Ending Week Two

Yesterday was spent combing through ALL of the group e-mails. What a task that was. But, Eye think Eye am all caught up. Last night: Listened to Mr. Farmers' webcast.. a very nice overview of all aspects of weblogging.
